Day 29 The Power of the Mood

The proper course of action is to replace destructive feelings with others that are good or to subordinate them- anger and sexual desire for example-in a way that makes them constructive. We do no first try to root out these destructive feelings but they are eliminated as we make the first move: going toward love, joy and peace, based on faith and hope in God.

This one is very hard for me because I suffer from depression and sometimes can not control my moods the good thing about it is I am aware of them and working toward trying to control them. My goal is to kick this problem.

God help me get control of my moods and kick the depression that consumes my moods. Lord fill me up with peace and serenity and your will to be the person you want me to be. In JESUS name AMEN!!

REPLACING those destructive feelings is key, but also not easy. I can really appreciate what you're saying, MB. CONTROLLING moods is hard work! I liked what JJ said about feelings taking over...like a boogey man hunching over us...because they're being fed by the images we play over and over in our minds. BUT" if my first freedom is where I put my mind" I can start purposing to give "airtime" to those better replacement thoughts . Definitely not easy, but worth trying.
