HOLLY SMOKES! This one is awesome sometimes I feel like I have a split personality when I am around family and non Christian friends I feel i have to be like them with the truck driver mouth and joking, etc and not being comfortable in doing so all the time. And when I am around my christian friends and people who accept me for who I become I am more reserved and comfortable don't need to stand out in that crowd. I sometimes also get all tied up with society and the b***s*** and become a potty mouth with thoughts that if acted upon could get me in trouble. Today I am doing something about making that change in front of everyone and not just my Christian Family. Thanks to God I am able to do so!!
WOW...Mike you are not alone! I often feel this way also! Sometimes I think it has to do with where I am in my walk, but also I know it has to do with Satan trying to poke his head in where it doesn't belong! I have been taking step(some small some leaps) to change myself and be the same with the "unchristian" people in my life!! It takes time, patience, courage, accountability from Christian friends! I ask for all of this from Him EVERYDAY & will be praying for you also!! -S
Welcome to our online discussion of Dallas Willard and Jan Johnson's Renovation of the Heart in Daily Practice: Experiments in Spiritual Transformation.
Each day, Monday-Friday, I will post the title of that day's chapter and maybe an excerpt from the chapter. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to read that day's selection from the book then click on the comment link and add your $.02 to the conversation. If you are a highlighter maybe just share what you highlighted and why you highlighted it. Maybe something really resonated with you as you tackled that day's experiment, share that with us. Maybe, as happened with me, the first time I read the book, God will reveal something to you.
Read the comments that others leave, respond to each other, ask for clarification, let someone know you connected with a comment they left.
My hope is that working through this book together we will get much more out of it, we might not only grow in Christlikeness but grow closer to each other.
If you have any technical difficulties please email me at tkay3atcharterdotnet.
